Alastair Cook – Making His Dreams Come True

England vs India are an interesting cricketing clash to say the least. Both the countries have some very famous players and some very famous legends who have played a major role in the history of this sport. The batsman Jonny Bairstow is perhaps one of the finest all round performers in the National Cricket Team.

He was recently rewarded with a world cup call up, following his performances in the Caribbean region. But in the run up to that he also managed to win two Tests matches for his country and then was dropped from the England side. But despite these drawbacks, he has still managed to score runs regularly and even though he will not be selected for the three test which is due in India, he still has a huge part to play in the ongoing world cup. The three Tests he has already played has given England some much needed confidence, which they should take advantage of during their upcoming tour in the West Indies.

The current situation at the bat for England is actually very poor, as they have lost six out of their seven matches so far this year. They have not won a Test match in the entire West Indies since 2021 and have only won one of their last twelve Tests. Jonny Bairstow has been unfortunate in not picking up any wickets and also bowling very poorly. But he is still a great leader and excellent cricketing analyst. There are many who would say that he lacks the pace that is required to succeed in the long run in international cricket, but in truth he is probably a better player than what he is currently showing.

There is a very familiar face in the England squad, which is all that has left from the reign of Sir Garfield Barrow, now that Sir Garfield is retired. Chris Jordan has been a great servant to the England team and has established himself as one of the leading all rounders in the game. He has been a very consistent bowler and has averages of 21 runs per day in the England side, although he has only picked up two wickets.

Two other members of the England cricket team, along with newcomer Chris Woakes, are part of the big wave of changes that have swept through the England cricket team since November last year. This was largely due to the presence of Steve Ballantyne, who became the first coach of the England team. He has brought in a lot of fresh and young blood into the England side and has thus changed the whole attitude of the cricketing public. It is fair to say that this has done much to lift the confidence of all the players and especially the seniors. The team has also looked much stronger in the last few matches, as they have not been hit so hard by injuries as they have been in the past few years.

Against New Zealand in the first match of the series, Alastair Cook produced a fantastic hundred, which took the tourists all the way to victory. The only blemish on the batting front was that there was no run scoring after lunch and Cook did not make any scores in the overs that followed. But he showed great confidence, which helped the side to win the match by six wickets. There are many fans who will be glad to see Alastair Cook in the England team for another century tomorrow.

Jonny Bairstow made a fine debut against New Zealand, playing some of the best cricket of his career, and he did enough to win the match and take the series 2-1. However, in their next match, India was much more controlled and took full advantage to win the series 3-2. Jonny Bairstow is still yet to score a century in his limited matchmaking experience and this may be a mistake by the coach Andy Flower. There is no doubt that both Steve Smith and Alastair Cook are capable of taking wickets, but they need to build on their performances against better teams like India if they are to build on their careers.

Two years ago, I wrote a piece entitled “The Dream11 Prediction”, where I said that Alastair Cook would end on top in the England Test team this time. Well, this article stands as my best prediction to date and has backed this up with some solid research. My dream11 prediction is that Alastair Cook will end on top in the England Test team and will also win the Cricket World Cup.
